South Winneshiek Community School District has received a generous donation from the family of Bernie Gluth, an outstanding band teacher at North Winneshiek. In honor of his legacy, the district has established the Bernie Gluth Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This scholarship will help ensure that students with an interest in band are able to participate, even when the cost of an instrument may be a barrier. Bernie was passionate about making music accessible to all students, and through this fund, we are proud to continue that passion at South Winneshiek.
Families who have a child interested in learning to play an instrument are encouraged to contact Mr. Nathan Miller, Band Instructor at South Winneshiek CSD, at nmiller@swinn.k12.ia.us.
We are confident these funds will provide meaningful opportunities for students who might otherwise be unable to afford an instrument, allowing them to experience the joy and benefits of music education.
