The South Winn LEGO League team “Warrior Robotics” competed on Saturday, December 1st at Peet Junior High in Cedar Falls. For this year’s competition, they were tasked with designing a solution to a problem of their choice related to long-term space travel. They designed a model for a learning software that would use information from a fitness tracker, as well as past dietary preferences, to give astronauts choices for food to eat based on calories burned, previous choices, and what is left in inventory. They even spoke with a NASA engineer who thought the project was a terrific idea. For their efforts, their project received first place in the project category, and the robot finished 4th overall.
The team was coached by Steve Carnesi and Mike Wenthold.
