The South Winneshiek CSD Board of education held their regular board meeting on May 10, 2022 in the band room in Ossian. The meeting was called to order by board president Wendy Mihm-Herold at 5:30 pm.
After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited roll call took place: Present: Craig Neuzil, Patricia Schissel, Wendy Mihm-Herold, Don Schroeder and Ron Hemesath. Absent: None
Moved by Hemesath and seconded by Schissel to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Review and discussion about previous minutes, bills, appointments, resignations, open enrollments and donations took place. Moved by Schroeder and seconded by Neuzil to approve the consent items as presented which include open enrollments in and out. Motion carried unanimously.
Mihm-Herold welcomed visitors.

- Moved by Neuzil and seconded by Schissel to approve the graduating class of 2022. Motion carried unanimously. Commencements will be May 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
- Moved by Neuzil and seconded by Schroeder to approve the sharing agreements with Keystone for Special Education Director, School Social Worker and Technology Support Specialist. Motion carried unanimously.
- Moved by Neuzil and seconded by Hemesath to approve the Milk bid from Anderson Erickson, Bread bid from Pan O Gold and fuel bid from Farmers Union Coop for gas, diesel and propane. Motion carried unanimously.
- Moved by Schroeder and seconded by Schissel to approve the school and nutrition fees as listed. Motion carried unanimously.

- Moved by Neuzil and seconded by Hemesath to renew a three-year contract with Hacker Nelson & CO CPAs for their auditing services. Motion carried unanimously.
- Moved by Schroeder and seconded by Hemesath to approve Reilly Construction to install a curb/waterway at the athletic complex not to exceed $20,000. Motion carried unanimously.
- Moved by Hemesath and seconded by Schissel to approve the MOU with Luther College for clinical field experience. Motion carried unanimously.
Administrative reports. Mr. Halverson gave his administrative report thanking the Depot Outlet for their generous donation of $50 per student for grades 5-8 to be used toward field trips.
Mr. Einck provided his report, announcing that he accepted a position at Howard Winneshiek CSD as superintendent. He will provide his formal resignation to the board on Friday, May 13 at a special board meeting at 7:30 am.
Moved by Neuzil and seconded by Hemesath to go into an exempt session to discuss strategy in matters relating to employment conditions of employees not covered by the collective bargaining law. IC 21.9 at 6:15 pm. Roll Call vote: Ayes: Neuzil, Hemesath, Schissel, Schroeder and Mihm-Herold. Nay – None. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Hemesath and seconded by Schroeder to return to open session at 7:04 pm. Roll Call: Ayes: Neuzil, Hemesath, Schissel, Schroeder and Mihm-Herold. Nay – None. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Neuzil and seconded by Hemesath to increase wages a collective amount of $13,660 for the 2022-2023 school year for individuals not covered under a collective bargaining agreement and to provide three additional vacation days to the superintendent administrative assistant and human resource director. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Neuzil, Hemesath, Schissel, Schroeder and Mihm-Herold. Nay – None. Motion carried unanimously.
