Preschool and Kindergarten registration for the South Winneshiek Community School District is scheduled for the week of Monday, January 12, through Friday, January 16. Parents may register at any time during this week by emailing tiwagner@swinn.k12.ia.us.
Please include your child’s full name, birthdate, and parent contact information. This initial contact is used for enrollment counts.
Preschool Program
South Winneshiek is open to any child who will be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 15, 2026. The preschool operates full days, Monday through Thursday, from 8:17 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. The program is led by a certified teacher and a certified teacher associate. Monthly tuition is charged for both programs; however, HAWC scholarships and childcare assistance are available for those who qualify based on income.
- Fees: Four-year-olds are charged a one-time registration fee in August (this year’s fee was $45).
- Schedule: Preschool begins approximately two weeks after the regular school year starts and follows the South Winneshiek district calendar thereafter.
Kindergarten
Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 15, 2026. The program operates full days, five days a week. It is taught by certified teachers and focuses on Common Core Standards.
- Fees: Kindergarten students are charged a one-time registration fee in August (this year’s fee was $55).
- Note: Because all five-year-olds are encouraged to attend Kindergarten, a separate “Kindergarten Roundup” will not be held.
